When I Had Something To Say

Something To Say

When I Had Something To Say

Erase the words, over and over
Time goes by, faster not slower
Light is dim by words promised
That yet have come into view

Looking forward, nothing to see
Looking back, is where I left me
Day to day, just making it through
Nothing old, nothing new

So sure, I was, walking into the fire
Of what was once a deep desire
I want to sleep, I want to run
I’m tired of who I’ve become

Passion hides behind closed doors
I don’t know how to open anymore
Locked in like some sort of game
Quietly mocking me day by day

If I can’t ask for you to show me
I grasp at emptiness not knowing
Caught inside a constant loop
Is this me, or is this you

Maybe that’s why I stopped talking
Making that’s why I’m not walking
Waiting and listening proved futile
When I had something to say
