A Broken Soul

Broken Soul

Woe to this world the hurt it causes
Knives run deep with excuses rampant
Anguish kills the gentle heart shattered
Picking up pieces of what once mattered

A silent soul questions why
Won’t give up, “just one more try”
Round, and round, and round we go
Same old story, same old show

They find what they consider weak
Smiling, and scheming as they seek
Hurting, creating death and hate
Loving every second they take

Those fragile hearts cry out in strife
Longing, searching for new life
Fighting hard to not lose faith
Wondering if anyone else can relate

A light, though dim still shines
A promise that says, you are mine
I have made for you a place
A gift to you through my grace

I blessed you with the kindest heart
In the darkness, they’ll see a spark
Don’t let your light grow dim
We won’t let the darkness win

Take my hand, lean on grace
You precious one that I created
All those times they let you down
I placed a new jewel on your crown

And here in the book of life
A reminder that you tried and tried
Although they refused to see and hear
Though they are trapped in their own fear

You precious child with a broken soul
I am here to make you whole
Though trials in this world you’ll face
Until we meet at heavens gate
